Dexilant is a PPI (proton pump inhibitor). PPIs reduce stomach acid production. Other members of the PPI class include esomeprazole (Nexium), lansoprazole (Prevacid), omeprazole (Prilosec), pantoprazole (Protonix), and rabeprazole (Aciphex). The Dexilant generic name is dexlansoprazole.
